About Gram Sabha

What is Gram Sabha?

The Gram Sabha is the primary body of the Panchayati Raj system and consists of all registered voters in the village. It is the foundation of democratic decision-making at the grassroots level.

Powers and Functions

  • Approval of development plans and budgets
  • Selection of beneficiaries for government schemes
  • Social audit of works undertaken
  • Identification of projects for MGNREGA
  • Review of Panchayat accounts and records
  • Discussion of annual financial statements

Meeting Schedule

As per state guidelines, Gram Sabha meetings are held at least 4 times a year on:

  • 26th January (Republic Day)
  • 1st May (Maharashtra Day)
  • 15th August (Independence Day)
  • 2nd October (Gandhi Jayanti)
