Standing Committees

1. General Administration Committee

Purpose: Oversees general administration, staff management, revenue collection, and compliance with government regulations.

• Maintenance of birth and death registers

2. Finance, Audit & Planning Committee

Purpose: Reviews financial matters, budgets, accounts, audit reports, and development planning.

• Budget preparation and approval
• Review of income and expenditure
• Audit report examination
• GPDP formulation and monitoring
• Approval of financial proposals

3. Public Works & Infrastructure Committee

Purpose: Oversees construction, maintenance of roads, water supply, sanitation, and public buildings.

Meetings: 5 meetings held in 2025 | Last Meeting: 5th November 2025

• Road construction and maintenance
• Water supply schemes
• Drainage and sanitation works
• Street lighting installation
• Building construction and repairs
• MGNREGA works monitoring

4. Education, Health & Social Welfare Committee

Purpose: Monitors education facilities, health services, welfare schemes, and social development programs.

Meetings: 3 meetings held in 2025 | Last Meeting: 25th September 2025

• Monitoring school facilities and attendance
• Mid-day meal quality inspection
• Primary health center oversight
• Anganwadi center monitoring
• Implementation of welfare schemes (pension, scholarships)
• Women and child development programs

5. Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Environment Committee

Purpose: Promotes agricultural development, animal husbandry, environmental conservation, and natural resource management.

• Agricultural extension services
• Veterinary services and animal health
• Water conservation and watershed management
• Tree plantation and forestry
• Solid waste management and sanitation
• Promotion of organic farming

Purpose and Functions

Standing Committees are statutory bodies formed under the Panchayati Raj Act to ensure focused attention on different areas of development and governance. Each committee consists of elected Panchayat members and is responsible for:

• Detailed examination of subjects within their domain
• Making recommendations to the Gram Panchayat
• Monitoring implementation of approved schemes
• Ensuring transparency and accountability

Committee Meetings

Each committee meets at least quarterly to review progress, discuss issues, and plan activities. Minutes of all meetings are recorded and presented to the full Gram Panchayat for approval.

Composition Norms

• Each committee has 5-7 members from elected representatives
• Chairpersons are elected by committee members
• Adequate representation of women and SC/ST members
• Ex-officio members as per state guidelines
